As of late the FDIC has only been updating their "Failed Bank List" on Fridays, after the market has closed. Historically before 2008 Friday has the most releases (~80%) of failed banks but also included updates on other days. Since Jan 2009 there has only been 1 release outside of the "normal" Friday cycle and no indication that this will change anytime soon. July has been the worst month for bank failings so far with 24 failed, bringing the yearly total (2009) to 69.
