Hi Guys, I first new thread etc and I hope I am not breaking any rules in the content.
I have been out of trading for around a year due to other life things happening but just getting back into it. Before I finished up last year I was in the process of having an EA written around the SSL Fastbar indicator which I came across on an abandoned thread on the MQL5 forum, along with a decent strategy by it's author Darkonix, but could not find any reference to anywhere else. It seemed to be a pretty handly little indicator/system and after having a play around came up with a design for an EA which if I recall seemed to work pretty well as regards finding entry points but fell over when it came to exiting trades.
The initial strategy from Darkonix was quite simple:
NonLagMA v7.1_emailalert (length 40 , Pct filter 0.5)
SSL_fast_sBar_alert_mtf (lb 10 , time frame 240) *will act as filter for NonLagma
Trade on the 15M chart
Go Short :
When NonLagMA send the signal for changing the direction to down trend (red color) and SSL is red (on 4h time frame will act as filter)
Go Long :
The opposite from short (everything should be green)
The SSL does not repaint the past once the signal is confirmed, but it will repaint the previous 5 bars if you are watching the 1 min chart with 5 min time frame SSL settings when the signal is confirmed.
For example:
on 1 min chart:
SSL 5min -repaint 5 bars
SSL 15min -repaint 15 bars
SSL 30min -repaint 30 bars
on 5 min chart:
SSL 15min -repaint 3 bars
SSL 30min -repaint 6 bars
etc...
So the trade is taken once the SSL (running on a higher timeframe) locks in on the timeframe being used for trading.
Anyhow my EA was geared towards running on a much lower timeframe, it also has a virtual tp function so avoid getting into trouble with brokers for HTF trading. I have attached the initial draft specs and files below if anyone wants to have a tinker and maybe suggest improvements - or play with the code. Unfortnately the "coder" I employed vie Fiverrr turned out to not be a coder at all and used the EA builder software fxdreemer to write it which I did not realise until after it has been written. At the time I thought there was some mileage in this EA built around the SSL Fastbar indicator and was typically protective but now less so and happy to 'put it out there' to anyone to play around with if you so wish ...so tear it to shreds.
Screenshot below is an example of Darkonix's original trading strategy.
