1. Can MT5 effectively backtest an EA that trades multiple symbols?
2. Can I port my MT4 EA to MT5 line by line without using the MT5 includes?
Most of the code examples I see for MT5 are using include files and since I am not a professional coder, I code by looking at examples of other code.
Simply want to re-code my simple MT4 EA (about 600 lines of code including spaces and comment lines, maybe 500 lines of actual code) to MT5, one line, one command, one function at time. Is this possible? Don't want to use the standard MT includes as for now they are not applicable to any of my EA functions or code and I don't want to re-code my EA to work with standard includes. Am not opposed to eventually coding my own includes files for my functions that are frequently used, however for now am satisfied with just copying and pasting my own commonly used functions in each ea instead of coding them into an include file. Another reason for not using includes, is that I don't want to put additional files that need to be executed on a rented VPS, just a simple well running .ex file will suffice.
The main thing is I want to backtest and compare trading 2 or more symbols in one EA vs. using 2 EAs or more in different accounts.
I experimented coding for MT5 years ago when broker support was less, but recently re-downloaded it and tested it and it seems much more complex and convoluted than I remember, or maybe it's just because I'm getting old(er).
