I would like to say that I truly enjoy communicating with people here on FF.
There are some incredible traders who visit here, some with rather large accounts too.
One may or may not have anything to do with the other, but usually good traders
have a decent amount of money in their accounts and they bank a nice chunk of cash
pretty much every week that they're active in the markets.
Now, one thing I've noticed about the group that consistently comes home with full pockets
is that THEY DON'T TALK ABOUT IT. Sure, you'll catch wind of a killer trade they
either recently made, or might very well be in the middle of at the time.
Not uncommon either to have them quote a few performance stats or relate some of their
own methodologies on how they made some of that serious coin. But as for
how much money they made or make, or how big is the account, or whatever
it is the exception, not the rule to hear these things first hand from a winning trader.
(revise: that is until he starts losing and wants to sell you his system).
I am even surprised that we find them here on Forex Factory, willing to comment on
how they do what they do, to the extent that they do. It goes to show that
there are some very generous and giving folks around here.
One thing I do not believe is a part of their trading routine would be to call up the trade desk
at their broker and bring to their attention the fact that they just pulled so many pips
out of the market and "boy did I nail that one....." and so on. That would be stupid.
Actually, it would be Stooooopid (emphasis on the oooooopid part)
Don't ever draw attention to yourself, win or lose, especially if you trade with a market maker.
Winning traders only brag about their ball club and who won the game, not their account balances.
If someone feels great because they just made a good trade and wants everybody to know,
please remember that this can be the last warning sign given prior to a major drawdown.
If you've ever felt yourself wanting to brag about your wins or someone you know has gone off
the deep end because of either big wins or big loses and you understand what I'm getting at then,
well, you understand. If you don't then, either I'm an idiot so don't listen to anything I say
or, consider if what I'm relating here has any value.
It is a sign of trading maturity (if you can call it that) when it no longer phases you anymore.
Emotion will never be completely irraticated, but the the less of it the better.
Congratulations to anyone reading this who is up on the day. Even if it is only by one pip.
Condolences to anyone who is down on the day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for you.
But, for God's sake, don't call your broker and tell him about it. Please believe me,
you don't want them to know anything more about you than they already do.
