I'm just looking for something to help me visualise when stepping up and down timeframes.
I don't really like timeframes actually. In TradeStation you can start with a tick chart and zoom out but it doesn't go very far. With MT4 every time I change time frame my mind doesn't put the 2 together properly. I'll bet this is a common problem for newbies. It's even a problem with custom timeframes. Maybe sticking to set jumps helped you? (i.e. 1D -> 12H -> 6H -> 3H etc)... fibonacci numbers would be good for this.
The best I've got on this for MT4 is an indicator that shows a bigger timeframe candle over a smaller timeframe chart.
It would be a lot nicer to just zoom in and out smoothly with the mousewheel or see tiny candles within the bigger TF candles. - or indeed some other software I can refer to, maybe even with a more rough data feed, just to help me learn visualising the timeframes - how they join up in my mind.
There's no way I'm going to see fractals repeating in different scales without this.
