since i got screwed by the SNB intervention yesterday, shorting into usdchf not knowing what the f*** was going on....

i'm wondering if anybody here knows of a good fx news live feed company online....

I'm interested in knowing:

- Cost
- Speed of their news.. such as 30 seconds after news came out or 5 mins etc...

If you can afford it, Bloomberg offers a terminal....but it's mighty expensive.

ransquawk do a free 30-second delayed audio newsfeed, paid-for realtime, and IFRmarkets (available through lots of retail brokers) are good for written news (realtime)

Wouldn't of saved you of course till after the event, but at least you know why you were looking at such carnage

am trialling tradethenews.com atm.... they seem alright

didn't know about ransquawk... will look into them... thanks

as for free bloomberg tv, i was listening to them at the time.... usdchf went up in a straight line 250 ticks or something and bloomberg tv had no mention of it, even after it was nearly 400 ticks up i didn't hear anything about the intervention

if i knew what was going on i wouldn't have shorted into that move

I know for sure TradeTheNews and RANsquawk don't talk about volume, as they report what comes through the major news wires.

I've heard about Dow Jones FX Select as a premier service but maybe you can call them to see if this will report volume.

we absolutely do talk about volume and flows.. if we see or hear a major institution buying or selling.. our clients are told immediately. we are so much more than headline readers, providing some excellent sources of information, flows, stops, auction coverage. we have contacts with some great traders/brokers, we talk to guys in the pit in chicago and pass on everything we hear from those.

hope you like the service, feel free to contact our main website and request a free professional trial

http://talking-forex.com/ is associated with RANsquawk, but I never trialed it. I was hoping someone would tell me the difference between RANsquawk paid-for real-time vs this Talking-Forex.

so exactly how much did RANsquawk's Gold package or Forex package costs per month? They never wanted to tell me.

Talking Forex is aimed at retail traders and is priced at £20pm whereas RANsquawk is for institutional traders and depending on package costs anything from £20 to £300pm.

Both services are excellent.

You can try the 5mins delayed version, if you like it then pay £20/mth. Very good service to have audio in background while you trade. Gives you the pulse of the events of the day.
No longer trading forex. Looking for full time job.

TalkingForex is cool, pretty inexpensive but I think it's only London, or London/US?

You're right, no coverage between 2130 to 0630 London time.

I've been using this news feed for the past year: http://www.orderflowtrading.com/News.aspx which posts market info 24/5 as it breaks and some highly regarded order info .. I contribute my profitability (& limiting losses) to it actually.
Even has its own free squawk starting up http://www.orderflowtrading.com/News/SquawkWire.aspx From what I can tell, the squawk is real-time and free.

Alpari have just announced a live ransquawk if you have a live account as it seems ransquawk are trying to branch out as they just redesigned their website and probably come to some sense that charging £20 per month is too much of a considered investment for retail traders so they're offering their service via affiliation(s).

I also tried livesquawk.com but they charge £200 per month and they send 4-5 emails a day, each is a wall of text. If they offered a £5 per month service and just announced events numbers they might survive, but it seems they only want to cater for high-end clients.

Talking fx also has Asian session coverage, but you need to pay extra for that afaik. Haven't used the squawk at OFT but "usually silent" is normal, same as tfx.
