Hi all,

I plan to change one of my computers (laptop) and the one I am looking at right now has a 4k display.

Is there something I should know about the compatibility/non-compatibility of the MT4 platform display ? I read a lot about this but can't find if something has to be done (eg. OS settings, etc ...) in order to have the same display than a "standard" screen resolution.

If someone has infos, tricks, etc ... and even a screenshot of how the platform look like on a 4k monitor, I would be very greatful!

Thank you ...

Hi, my friend

I think you should not be worrying about it. As a programmer you should know what there are two points to take a note. The first is the graphics adaptor, the second is the driver for the graphics adaptor. These are the included options of your computer. Any resolution can be set in the options at the driver you would use.

The only thing I can advise - the color pattern for your monitor. Such a monitor must have the color pattern to extend the colour gamut. The latest can be found at the site of your computer producer.

Best

Im using 4K ( in 13" laptop ) without problems. Icons and text are fine. Maybe you have use windows scale ( 125% ) if you dont use 24" monitor. Depends of you eyes.

Thank you D.P. and Braintheboss. Very much appreciated ...

Yes scaling (eg. 125%) was my first thought. How the MT4 platform display looks like after the scaling ? Is there any clarity loss ... especially when applying graphical tools like dashboards ?

Thank you but what you are showing is a 4k pic on a FullHD monitor ... if I am not mistaken.

In fact I would like to see the whole MT4 platform (including toolbars, etc ...) on a 4k monitor.

The only problem with scale are text objects created. Don't respect original size. When you create UI you will down scale for see real alignment and size. It's not much difference but if you play with borders ( put text at rectangle border) you can see not good alignment. I'm using VM without scale for check the differences

The problem is not just MT4. I have other PC applications which ran well in full HD 1920x1080.
But when now I use a new PC with QHD 3480 x 2160, all the text line get overlap on my PC screen.
I think the problem is in the screen aspect ratio which the application is not able to adjust to.
I asked the software developers and they do not have any solution yet. They expect a general solution from Microsoft.

I read few days back that there's a solution (at least temporary) to adjust specific applications by creating a .manifest file ... so when you run the application, it will know it need to adjust its own display.

I m using a 4k screen. I do have a few issues with some older programs (such as pitview). There seems to be an issue with propper scaling. Mostly i can adjust that by rightclicking the .exe file and adjust the screen settings from there. However, as you can see on my screenshot i cant adjust the size of my mini terminal because thats a .ex4 file.. Its quite frustrating at times. Otherwise i have no real issues regarding the MT4 platform itself.

Having troubles with MT4 on 4k monitor.

I can run it on 640x480, but that won't look nice at all.

I have problems with some of indicators, the texts are interrupting each other in both directions. Other than that, moving SL,TP, Trade's on the chart using the mice is pain in the ass. Snap to the object is as well a pain in the ass.

How to fix it?

Close your platform ... then right click on the terminal.exe (or its shortcut) > Properties > Compatibility tab > Check "ovveride high DPI" and select it to "system". Apply ... Then restart your platform.

It generally solves the display issue.
