Week 4 update of the EA test and final results! For previous weeks update please see here: https://www.forexfactory.com/showthr...4#post10646314
Just to recap for anyone who doesn't know yet, or hasn't been following;
"I created a new demo account on Monday 18/12/17 to test the EA over a 1 month period and then judge overall results. This is also to test different time frames, as well as different settings, which will be more profitable overall. I am testing 2 time frames, H4 and D1 only. I did test lower time frames (M15, M30, H1) but they did not do very well, H4 and D1 performed much better so I will be sticking to these 2 time frames for this test. I am also testing whether using the TS settings is better, or leaving the TP at next new opposite Zig Zag Arrow for overall max profit, so there are duplicates on the TE as there are 2 charts trading H4, and 2 charts trading D1."
We guys have come to the end of the first EA test. It's been an interesting month, and from this test I was able to identify what works and what doesn't. I closed all open trades and I have finalized all the results. See week 2 results below.
- Account balance at start: $10000
- Account balance current: $9891
- Account growth in %: -1.09%
- Account growth in profit: -$109
- In 1st place is the H4 chart using the TS settings as TP, with a total profit of $528.34, and 72.06% win rate.
- In 2nd place is the H4 chart using the next new opposite arrow as TP,, with a total profit of $136.39, and 39.29% win rate.
- In 3rd place is the D1 chart using the next new opposite arrow as TP, with a total profit of $-328.56, and a 50% win rate.
- In 4th place is the D1 chart using the TS settings as TP, with a total profit of -$445.58, and 71.43% win rate.
So after after looking at the numbers after closing everything we managed to recover some of the losses from the previous week. We closed the 1 month EA test basically breaking even which considering the time of the test, is pretty good and I'm pleased. From the results we can see that H4 was the better performing time frame, and D1 did not perform like I was hoping to see, confirming my original recommended time frame H4.
I also saw that using the next new opposite arrow as TP did not give better results, and that overall using the TS settings locked in the most profits. There have been a lot of updates since starting this test so in the next test I will be running some updated parameters and making some changes, 2 of them being no longer testing D1, and TP at next new opposite arrow.
Thank you for following along this test and I hope you found it informative and useful for your own testing of this powerful EA. I look forward to the next new test starting tomorrow!
