Thanks for the nice summary, as always ET. "But the decline was driven by energy prices rather than broad-based weakness in prices" .....you mean the energy (oil) prices that have gone up 12% in the last 3 days without any sign of weakness thus far? ...

The VIX is certainly starting to support this idea as well. Friday's lows were basically the lows of the post-war era, so there's an argument to be made that we were due for some increases anyway. That said, as you point out, the macro data ...
US forces to resume Iran blockade on July 14 at 4pm ET

There certainly has been a longer period of market reaction than the previous 5/6/7 times. "normally", the market discounts the rhetoric within hours (after being fooled a few times in early April). This, however, has been sticky. It doesn't help ...

Standard operating procedure: Gives Iran time to "call the president and beg for a deal" (president's words, not mine)...at which time "the price of oil will drop like a stone" (again, his words).

Yup, I noticed that last night too...oil is taking notice now as well with no pullbacks and continuing to make new highs of day on steady upward movement. It's almost as if 5AM CST rolled around, took notice of exactly what you stated, and the ...

Oooh - that sounds strikingly different than Warsh. Let's see how the pundits read into and spin this comment.... ....on the other hand, nearly no one outside of highly involved traders/analysts care about FED comments like this.

I laughed my ass off when, during an interview month(s?) ago a report asked him about the Iranians proposing a toll (paraphrasing here).... He said: a toll? The US tolling the strait? The reporter clarified: "no, the Iranians". He said "No. No way. ...

Centcom conducts new series of strikes targeting Iran
- ffghost commented 46 hr ago
"conducts" or "completes"? Price action is price action (and /cl should tell the reality), but that word kind of matters when considering what is either a new set of ongoing attacks or the culmination of the latest round. The release from CENTCOM ...

- ffghost commented Jul 12, 2026
That's one viewpoint. Another would be that the sideways action is a great example of how markets can consolidate via either price OR time. This congestion will break one way or another. Technical analysis would suggest a break up and out of this ...
