People who say forex is gambling are right for themselves. You can gamble in forex. Say, you throw a coin and say "heads will mean I open a BUY trade on the euro/dollar, tails will be SELL euro/dollar". A good explanation here url

Why 1.00? It could reach 0.87 for example as it was back in 2002? I don't think anything catastrophic would happen if eur/usd reaches 1.00. Me and a quite a few other dollar bulls will make some money - that's all.
