Yes, the most common proprietary volatility filter is pretty much that. % deviation of historical ATR or Average of ATR.

Fine turning specific levels for each pair is an optimization and the opposite, in fact, of a robust measurement meaning a single parameter should would work on anything (Like RSI>75). ATR also changes ever year so the ATR levels would have to ...

So long as I can adjust its settings to the default zig zag settings and it works the same. image

I want it to output the price levels so an EA can use it. The standard Zig Zag has no output. Example of an ATR stop indicator output (from the EA builder I use): image But the Zig Zag indicator does not output price levels like that (from the EA ...

Hello, I am in need of the zig zag indicator to be modified. I need 2 outputs (support/resistance) for an EA. I don't code, I use EA Wizard. I need the previous high and previous low. Also: If current high > previous high use current high If current ...

If anybody is using the ATR stop indicator and EA the setting I have had great success thus far is with a 10 period 2.5 factor indicator/EA, and a 2 pip buffer on the EA. Dont forget to set the magic number to 0 so it will manage your manual trades. ...

My next venture for the future will to get a TRUE ATR stop indicator, much similar to the one I have now, and find an EA to go with it. Your EA has ATR already built in. Is this Wilder's actual equation? Here is a link to true ATR. I'm sure you ...

Very interesting. I'll mess around with it. Also the EA will work on manual trades if I set Magic number to false, but it will also work if I set it to true and make magic number =0? So with that too, it will manage manual trades and multiple ...

Confirmed. That's the (magic) trick! thanks!
- Illuminated replied Nov 26, 2013

Also will checking other time frames stop it from working? Is there a limit to the amount of orders it will manage? And how many pairs?

Must be my broker. Same thing, but the new indicator did not cause any issues anywhere so I will leave it. On the EA: What procedures should and shouldn't be done. I've been experimenting with it today. In the backtesting it seems to have worked ...

I downloaded the one you uploaded and on top of that I changed the 3 1000's that appear to 10000 but didnt change a thing. Indicator still works on other pairs, didnt break it, but for some ready XAUUSD still only has support for longs. Its 6 digit ...
- Illuminated replied Nov 25, 2013
BTW Have you seen any issue that could be causing XAUUSD to only show long stops for this indicator? Its one of my most traded pairs.
- Illuminated replied Nov 25, 2013
It works wonderfully! I'm still dazzled with all the other settings from the template you had. There apparently was already an ATR trailing stop setting. Can you tell me does it work very similarly? I know this indicator is not a true ATR that I ...
