Industrial product and raw materials price indexes, February 2020
Prices for products manufactured in Canada, as measured by the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI), decreased 0.5% in February, driven primarily by lower prices for refined petroleum products. Prices of raw materials purchased by manufacturers operating in Canada, as measured by the Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI), decreased 4.7%, mostly due to lower prices for crude oil. In February, the IPPI decreased 0.5% month over month. This decline was primarily due to lower prices for energy and petroleum products (-4.6%).
