Prime Minister Shinzo Abe dissolved the House of Representatives on Sept. 28 for a snap general election. At an extraordinary Cabinet meeting later in the day, the government will approve a schedule under which official campaigning will kick off on Oct. 10 for an Oct. 22 election. (full story)
