NFIB small business economic trends
The Optimism Index decreased 0.1 point in November to 90.6. This is the 23rd consecutive month below the 50-year average of 98. The last time the Index was at or above the average was December 2021. The Index has hovered around the “90” level all year. Of the 10 index components, 5 increased, 4 decreased, and 1 was unchanged. Forty percent (seasonally adjusted) of all owners reported job openings they could not fill in the current period, down 3 points from October. Thirty-three percent have openings for skilled workers (down 4 points) and 14 percent have openings for unskilled labor (down 4 points). The ... (full story)
