UK trade: August 2023
The value of goods imports increased by £0.8 billion (1.7%) in August 2023, with a rise in imports from non-EU countries and a decrease in imports from EU countries. The rise in imports from non-EU countries was mainly the result of higher imports of oil and gas. The value of goods exports decreased by £0.7 billion (2.2%) because of a fall in exports to non-EU countries, while exports to EU countries remained stable in August 2023. The total trade in goods and services deficit narrowed by £3.5 billion to £10.4 billion in the three months to August 2023, as imports fell by more than exports. The trade in goods ... (full story)
