EU: First Joint Gas Tender a 'Remarkable Success'
The EU has announced the results of the first tender on its joint gas procurement platform, with 25 suppliers submitting bids in response to requests from 77 buyers. European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic, who oversaw the creation of the AggregateEU platform, said on Tuesday that international suppliers had offered a total of 13.4 billion cubic meters of gas. That volume surpassed the 11.6 Bcm of gas requested by buyers, but only the "most attractive offers" were taken up, resulting in non-binding acceptances for 10.9 Bcm — 8.7 Bcm of pipeline gas and 2.2 Bcm of LNG.
