Industrial output up healthy 0.3% in September
The numbers: Industrial production rose a healthy 0.3% in September, the Federal Reserve reported Tuesday. The gain was above Wall Street expectations of a 0.1% increase, according to a survey by MarketWatch. Year-over-year, manufacturing is up 5.1%, the biggest gain in almost eight years. For the third quarter as a whole, total industrial production advanced at a 3.3% annual rate, down from a 5.3% rate in the second quarter.
