    China is likely to cancel its tentative plans to send Xi Jinping’s top economic adviser to Washington after Donald Trump announced new tariffs on US$200 billion worth of Chinese products, a government source in Beijing said on Tuesday. According to the source, who declined to be identified as the plans have not been made public, China is reviewing its earlier plans to send a delegation, headed by vice-premier Liu He, to Washington next week. I'm sick of everything made in China, monopolize the manufacturing. It should be diversified hence wealth will be distributed evenly across these developing countries.
China is already exporting the low-end manufacturing to SEA, South Asia and African countries. They want to move up the value chain and start competing with developed countries on high-end manufacturing, hence the "Made in China 2025" initiative.

Ironically, this trade war will only accelerate the process. High tariffs mean that there's no money to be made in manufacturing low-cost goods like toys or socks. Chinese companies will be forced to shift to higher-value products or they will go under.

Totally correct. I really want to buy US made products especially a Harley Davidson bike, unfortunately the bike when gets here becomes 3x more expensive!!!

China can avoid the issue by getting serious about high tariffs charged on US goods sold into China + intellectual rights. Ideally we see zero tariffs. How was China treating US companies before Trump took office? I'm glad to finally have a President who takes an interest in seeing to it that Americans and American jobs are valued. It's about time.

If Apple were to move back to the US for example how many Americans - or the rest of the world - would pay 2 - 3 x the price for their goods ? If the tariffs continue then by next year the American consumer will be paying for them. I wonder how many of his base realise that these 25% tariffs...
Look into modern 'lights out manufacturing' for electronic products.... Once the line is up and running costs will be similar assuming that greedy .gov types don't drive business away with endless taxes and regulation. But will quality be the same? Japanese culture is such that jobs are completed to perfection. Don't know how it is in China.... How much do American employees care? It matters.
