Phantis 1-year flashback + guideline for newcomers
Hey buds,
i guess the time has come....
this is a pretty hard step for me, but i wont have any time to post and follow threads etc. anymore because i'll have a daily job starting on monday again. ( working for a german bank, not as a trader )
Well i dont know really how to divide this thread, anyway i decided to start with a short flashback of my own ff.com ''career'' and experiences and then i'll move forward to the guideline for the newcomers, what to read, where to learn, how to make it in this business etc..... i guess and hope that this will be easy to read and easy to follow...
I try to keep it as simple as possible...^^
___________________________________________________________________
This is some guideline for the newcomers :
When i registered with ff.com i didnt have any clue what forex is actually about, how the markets work, what does the markets affect and move, how to place a order, long or short ? whats long? whats short? what the hell is a leverage? what is a pip? to be continued...
so i switched over to Babypips and read through all the pages, read it again, and again, and i did it once more before i read it for a last time.....
while reading all that stuff, i searched for the holy grail EA on ff.com , installed each fuckin EA on my demo account and let it run for several days ..... well i couldnt find one, not even a BE one.... oh man, this took me hours and days of work, im a fuckin jerk ..... waste of time !
...than i reached some kind of resignation, my head told me s.th like :,, Hey jerk ! That's not a 'get-rich-quick' business, this is a serious business of investment, short term for the scalpers and mid-longterm for the intraday-gurus and swingers et cetera.
so guys how to start and how to continue to become a successful trader?
well first of all you need a firm basic knowledge about the terms that are used in the technical analysis (for example support/resistance, price action, pinbar, fibonnachis, pivots, etc. etc. etc.), you should know the basic patterns and you should know how to work with the MT4, how to use the tools.
Therefor i wanna recommend www.babypips.com one more time, as this is the most reliable forex source in the worldwideweb in my opinion.
If you got the basics, start posting charts , try to analyze them, try to decide where to go long (buy) and where to go short ( sell ), think about targets and stops, you always need a fix plan before you enter a trade....
plan the trade, and trade the plan
ive got the following threads that have proven to be very very good and a good source to post charts, comment on other's charts and improv in your own trading.
I recommend to start with the threads that include the higher timeframe discussions,
as there are :
Daily Candle Chart
Thanks to Hussin for all his work and effort, nice stuff to get a brief knowledge about the weekly and daily timeframe.

Some experiences and thoughts that just run through my head....I better just start typing :-p
....so far so good, you've got your sources....now take some time and learn, place demo trades, post charts, comment on other's charts and get a firm knowledge about the markets and the technical analysis.
After ~1250 uploaded charts, nearly 11000 posts and 1 year trading experience i can say the following :
The most important key words of technical trading :
-Supply/demand ; support/resistance
-price action
yep,thats all...... imho
At some point you will recognize that you are most familiar with (for example) the daily frame and you are gonna create your own system ,that suits your character most. If you do have a system that has a positive expectation ( +ev = + expectation value )you are about to get wealthy.... wealthy? nice term, isnt it?
In the end...it's all about the money, to be able to withdraw or not to be....
So what do we actually need to be a successful trader?
There are to necessary things :
1st) +ev system ( means nothing different that we need a system/method which earns consistently a x-amount of pips on average )
2nd) a proper and reliable Moneymanagement plan.
Please don't expect to make a living out of 1k account or even a 10k account.Start to think in percentages, try to make 1% a week for example.
Never risk something that you cannot afford to lose.
Ok, here we go.....
Some say ''I dont risk more than 2 % off my accounts equity on any trade'' , others may say ''I risk ~ 0,33 % on each trade of my accounts equity to get a ~ 0,5 % gain) and others may say '' i use to have 2.3 trades a month and risk more than 10 % of my accounts equity on those trades to aim for a 25 % gain ) '' etc...
before you enter your first live trade, make sure that you know what you gonna risk and expect to lose before you do so, you absolutely need a fix moneymanagement plan like ''if A happens, how i change and adapt B then? '' when i gonna increase my sizes? when i stop trading? how much can i afford to lose? what's my max. drawdown? which leverage should I use? which broker should I use?
Do i want to earn 5000 $ a month or do i want to earn 500 $ ? If first, how much should i deposit to trade the required sizes and stand a bigger DD to earn those 5k ?
So never expect something impossible or unrealistic like making 10000 $ out of a inital 500 $ deposit within one week etc.
you will burn your money once, then a second time and a third before you start to create such a strict plan.
And if you created a plan, you start to ask yourself s.th like: ''Why im such a fag and didnt start to trade with a plan from the very beginning? i burned 20000 $ in 2 months and could have 25000 $ now. without any stress and emotional burden.....
i also burned 2 accounts when i first started to go live, why?
because of the facts i mentioned above.
i neither had a moneymanagement plan, nor i had a fix and strict system.
I went to eurusd M5 chart and pushed the ''buy'' trigger whenever i saw a huge green bullish candle and vice versa... man ! this was a hilarious time, i burned a lot of money within days.....got angry, burned more ( because i knew that im the hero and gonna win back my losses within another few days with another deposit ^^ )
seriously, take it easy...but take it as a business....there's no fuckin place for gamblers....go to the casino if you wanna gamble....but dont get in touch with forex then.... :-7
last but not least i wanna mention some traders that are worth a reference ....
attila, chicky, chonchy, magix, cloggie, gatorinla, PTL, lawgirl, grashid, jiva, kill, larseg, mercy, nanningbob, orbital, tarantula, stevehopwood, infinitus, kenfen, mqb, redsword, vennd, martingale and a lot more ...
you guys made me.
thanks for your helpful, stupid and spammy posts you made my days and entertained me whenever i waited for setups
I could keep writing here for hours and hours but i guess that's it for the moment.....
.... i dont know when i gonna return, maybe next month, maybe next year, maybe in 2 years, i promise that ill take a look whenever i'll have some time...
take care...
Jonas
PS: dont stop sending me private mails and posting on my wall, ill reply to all of them, just a question of time, i promise
