DislikedFor those who wish to learn how to trade Renko, there is an excellent thread in the Trading Systems forum called C4 Scalping....Ignored
Dislikedhi
can someone quickly help me here ..
this renko chart is working perfectly on m2 timeframe with default settings on RenkoLiveChart_v1.3 (ie. i put the script on m1 and then open the m2 and its got live renko on it) ... however, i cant seem to get it working on a m5 timeframe?
what am i doing wrong? ive put the script on m1 and then changed the "RenkoTimeFrame" to 5 and "RefreshRate" is still 2 - and then i open the offline M5 chart and its still candlesticks...
Is this only for m2?
Thanks!Ignored
DislikedI believe your issue maybe that M5 is an actual chart. The renko chart must be a "fake" historical chart. The script writes this "fake" chart. A real chart would be overwritten by the platform. If your just trying to change the timeframe that the renko chart is drawn from change that on the chart that the script is running on. But that only really effects the historical data. Any blocks that come in after the chart is drawn will be the same no matter what time frame you chose. LastVikings latest script shows the block as it is trying to be filled....Ignored
DislikedLastViking, I have been making some minor changes to your code to speed up the current bar formation. I've created a new version (RenkoLiveChart_v1.2.mq4) but I won't post it without your approval - it's your code as far as I'm concerned. PM me if you want to discuss.

DislikedCurrent bar is created differently - hard to explain, you have to see it to understand, but I think it results in fewer premature signals.Ignored
DislikedI'm with Alpari, the first version caused my platform to crash constantly, I think this was because it's an 5 digit broker.
Can I run both Renko ea's (the commercial one and the free version) at the same time and on the same platform?
Is it also possbile to choose the virtual TF now?Ignored
DislikedHello Lou,
I am having trouble getting the Renko chart running on my Mt4 platform. I
followed the rules creating an m1 chart and checking the DLL. When I go to the off line chart, I see many m2 charts in there. when I load any of the M2 charts I do not get a clean or active Renko chart. I go again and click on the other m2 charts and I'm still having thesame trouble.
Please help. I believe I may have a new and very profitable way of using the bricks.
Thanks.

I haven't tried it yet, but it may be necessary to deal with the x386/floating point/zero comparison bug here - all computer languages are impacted by this but MQL does not deal with it as well as others.
Instead of :
if ( a >= b)
you may need to do;
if (NormalizeDouble(a,Digits) > NormalizeDouble(b,Digits) ||
CompareDoubles(NormalizeDouble(a,Digits),NormalizeDouble(b,Digits))Ignored

DislikedI also have 5 digits (on demo only, not on live). Be sure your BlockSize is 100 instead of 10 in this case.
Running both Renkos at the same time will cause you no end of trouble because they use the same offline chart ID.
You can probably use 3 for the chart ID but this script can be very resource-intensive - try to not run too many at the same time -asking for problems.Ignored
DislikedI aware, I just didn't care. The only thing that would happen is that we may have to wait one more point before the new bar arrives (I think anyway, floating point is not my strongest point). BTW: Would not somthing like:
if(a > (b+point)) work just as well in our case?
Maybe - certainly less typing than what I did...
I don't mind at all if you (or someone else) post mods (thats why I posted the source code). But the name "RenkoLiveChart_v1.2.mq4" is not a good idea as there was a v1.2 on post #31 for awhile that...Ignored
DislikedHey all,
I did indeed get the indi working as a script,
Just wondering am I the only one having this problem with the charts not updating (chart attatched)Ignored
DislikedI've never seen anything like that (and I've been looking at it a lot).
Do you have the latest version from post #30?
What blocksize are you using?
Is script on a M1 chart?Ignored
DislikedHere is another thing I seem to find, I just reloaded the script on a fresh 1M chart and everything seemed fine.
Have a look at this candlestick vs. Renko chart, On the candlestick chart the highest high is 1.43758 , whereas on the Renko chart the highest high isw only shown as 1.4360 . . .
Should there not be three more Renko bricks upward ?
Charts attatched.
