DislikedThe script in post #94 has been updated. I believe I have corrected the problem of delay in showing the current bar.
Good trading...Ignored
Disliked2. Extern parameter to low you to always start brick at a specific level e.g 00 . This means that when you restart, the renko bricks show the same pattern. Otherwise you have a 9 out of 10 chance (4 digit broker) that they may not - or a 99 out of 100 chance for a 5 digit broker.Ignored
DislikedI just wan't to point out that the script I wrote won't start at some random level. It's always ronded in the (that I think is) correct fashion so your renko chart always look the same. e.g: floor(price/boxsize)*boxsize. But it's true that there is no external parameter to control this.

DislikedTo the programmers,
Is it possible to include the wicks on renko bars. In some cases, stoplosses are activated but the renko bars do not show this because of its properties.
ThanksIgnored
DislikedAce,
It seems that the programmers have no interest in doing this because the only use for the wicks is visual backtesting. At least Lou is proud not to do any backtesting.
So why don't you just code it yourself, or buy the commercial product for $30.Ignored
DislikedThere actually can be a use for wicks especially if you plan on placing stoplosses. For instance, if you decide to place the SL at the low of the bar, as many do when trading. If you simply have the renko bar, the actual low isn't necessarily the low of the bar.
Renko bricks have value outside the 5 point range as well. They have value in 50 pips, 100 pips and so on. For these types of ranges a SL is required as you can't babysit the screen.
If I could code it myself I would, but my expertise don't lie in coding, which is why I asked the programmers...Ignored
DislikedHuge job to do this, Ace and the author of the script may not be interested in throwing any more hours into it. I also have the commercial script - it is very good and not a huge investment if you really, REALLY feel you need the wicks. I am only saying that I tried them and they were not useful to me. Your way may not be my wayIgnored
DislikedI have a version of the script that appears to be working correctly but (after the embarassment of posting a non-working solution) I'm going to hold off posting until the end of the week.
Sorry again for any inconvenience I may have caused - I feel like the boy who cried wolf...Ignored
DislikedNo inconvenience caused whatsoever Lou
You might as well post it Lou so as people can forward test it ? Although the decision is of course totally yours.

DislikedThanks for the thought, Jigsaw but I'd rather wait. As LV has said, his v1.4 version of the code does eventually catch up with current data so it's very usable. I really want to get it right next timeIgnored
DislikedFor those that wan't to dig in to the update issue of the script, have a look in file->offline, look at the nr of bars of the renko history file. Compare it to the bars on the open renko chart window. It's one bar less in chart window ws. file->offline then the script isn't updating but eq. then it is.
So, the file do get updated, it's just that MT4 dosen't care... I'm experimenting a little with UpdateWindow(hwnd), but no luck.Ignored
DislikedI've reconsidered and decided to post v1.5 - please consider it beta and test the heck out of it
Place the source code in the experts folder
Compile it from there
Put the resulting object on a M1 chart as an EA
Enable Live Trading, Allow DLL calls and Allow external experts
Open the resulting M2 offline chart
Current info should update to match M1 bid level within 30 seconds or less - maybe a bit longer if first start after many hours of downtime.
Just to rant a bit - if MQL had even the most rudimentary debugging tools (breakpoints,...Ignored
Dislikedbeen running 1.3 (close bar) out of choice & can report it has been running flawlessly for my needs. Pips flowing well. Will test 1.5 on demo, thanks for all your hard work Lou G.
