EIA reports a 5th straight weekly rise in U.S. crude supplies

The Energy Information Administration on Thursday reported that domestic crude supplies rose a fifth straight week, up 3.7 million barrels for the week ended Feb. 15. That was a bit more than the 3.5 million-barrel rise expected by analysts polled by S&P Global Platts. The American Petroleum Institute data on Wednesday showed an increase of 1.3 million barrels, according to sources. The supply data were released a day later than usual because of Monday's Presidents Day holiday.
