Thank you for the opportunity to be here this afternoon at this important conference, speaking on behalf of the Bank of England as Deputy Governor with responsibility for the UK’s RTGS1 and the CHAPS high value payment systems. We are discussing the latest stage in the evolution of the UK’s financial services sector and London’s role as a global financial centre. Different infrastructures supported this evolution at different stages.
