The food price index (FPI) measures the rate of price change of a fixed basket of food, goods, and services purchased by households. Key facts Food prices fell 0.5 percent in February 2018. After seasonal adjustment, food prices were flat, with no change from January. In February 2018 compared with January 2018: • Fruit and vegetable prices fell 0.9 percent (flat, at 0.0 percent change after seasonal adjustment). • Meat, poultry, and fish prices fell 2.1 percent. • Grocery food prices fell 0.7 percent (down 0.6 percent after seasonal adjustment). • Non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 0.5 percent. • Restaurant meals ...
