A powerful earthquake struck Tottori Prefecture and surrounding areas shortly after 2 p.m. on Oct. 21. The quake measured a lower 6 on the Japanese intensity scale in Tottori Prefecture. It was reported that the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.6. No tsunami warning was issued in the wake of the temblor. (full story)
