Wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt and Cuban cap, these pictures show the future Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at a violent clash with Italian police ahead of a G8 summit. Tsipras was among a group of 1,000 ‘hardcore’ Greek radicals who advanced on Italy intent on disrupting the G8 meeting in Genoa in 2001. The never-before-seen images show Tsipras, then 26, watching as a comrade is picked up by police in full riot gear. Moments later, he too had to be forcibly removed from the pontoon by police so the ferry could depart.
