ECB Proposes QE Stimulus of 50 Billion Euros a Month

European stocks resumed falling after two euro-area central-bank officials said the European Central Bank Executive Board has proposed quantitative easing of 50 billion euros ($58 billion) a month until the end of 2016. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index fell 0.5 percent to 354.22 at 2:51 p.m. in London, reversing gains of as much as 0.5 percent after the report came out. The Stoxx 600 rallied 4.8 percent in the past four days, closing at its highest level since January 2008, on optimism that the ECB will step up stimulus measures at its Jan. 22 meeting.
