German Consumer prices in 2014: +0.9% on 2013

On an annual average in 2014, the consumer prices in Germany rose 0.9% on 2013. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the year-on-year rate of price increase has been decreasing since 2011 (2011: +2.1%; 2012: +2.0%; 2013: +1.5%). A lower annual average rate of price increase was last observed in 2009 (+0.3%). The moderate year-on-year rate of price increase in 2014 was mainly due to low inflation rates in the second half of the year.
