Italy's Trade Surplus Falls In April

Italy's foreign trade surplus declined in April, the latest figures published by statistical office Istat showed Monday. The surplus fell to EUR 1.9 billion in April from EUR 3.24 billion in March. A year ago, the trade balance was in a deficit of EUR 250 million. Compared to March, exports remained unchanged in April while imports fell 0.9 percent. Year-on-year, exports grew 4.4 percent and imports fell 2.6 percent. Italy's trade with countries outside the EU resulted in a surplus of EUR 1.5 billion.
