Germany starts 2013 with a resurgence in private sector output

January data pointed to the strongest rise in German private sector output for 12 months, highlighting a continued change of momentum in activity around the turn of the year. Solid overall growth was mainly driven by the fastest increase in services activity since June 2011. Manufacturing production nonetheless returned to growth in January, although the rate of expansion was only marginal.
