US Unemployment Insurance Weekly Claims Report

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.6 percent for the week ending May 12, unchanged from the prior week's unrevised rate. The advance number of actual initial claims under state programs, unadjusted, totaled 327,595 in the week ending May 19, an increase of 2,515 from the previous week. There were 376,632 initial claims in the comparable week in 2011. The total number of people claiming benefits in all programs for the week ending May 5 was 6,168,620, a decrease of 105,004 from the previous week.
