In December 2023, the euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4%, stable compared with November 2023 and down from 6.7% in December 2022. The EU unemployment rate was 5.9% in December 2023, also stable compared to November 2023 and down from 6.1% in December 2022. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. Eurostat estimates that 12.936 million persons in the EU, of whom 10.909 million in the euro area, were unemployed in December 2023.
