December retail sales revealed further signs of economic growth to end 2023, underscoring how the US consumer remains in a better position than many have feared. Retail sales grew 0.6% December, according to Census Bureau data. Economists had expected a 0.4% increase. November retail sales had posted a surprise 0.3% increase.
