Spain: Sharpest fall in new orders in the year so far

The latest PMI® survey data from HCOB and S&P Global signalled that the Spanish manufacturing sector remained rooted in a downturn during July. Ongoing demand weakness drove sharper reductions in both output and new orders. Firms responded accordingly by paring back input buying at a quicker rate and lowering workforce numbers again. Weak demand throughout the sector put further downward pressure on prices in July. Input prices fell at the sharpest pace since June 2009 while output charges declined at the strongest rate in just over three years.
