In May 2023 the selling prices in wholesale trade fell by 2.6% compared with May 2022. This was the highest decrease compared with the preceding year since July 2020 (also -2.6% compared with July 2019). The annual rates of change in April 2023 and in March 2023 had been -0.5% and +2.0%, respectively. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) further reports that, compared with the previous month, wholesale prices decreased by 1.1% in May 2023.The year-on-year decrease was mainly due to the price decrease of mineral oil products by 22.7%.
