Material shortages curtail Italian production growth during March

March PMI® data from S&P Global pointed to a subdued upturn in production across the Italian manufacturing sector, with output growth reportedly curtailed by widespread material shortages, which were also reflected in a further severe deterioration in vendor performance. Elsewhere, new orders rose at the slowest pace since December 2020, with panellists noting that uncertainty due to the war in Ukraine had weighed on sales.
