Index of Commodity Prices October 2021

Preliminary estimates for October indicate that the index increased by 4.2 per cent (on a monthly average basis) in SDR terms, after decreasing by 6.7 per cent in September (revised). The rural, non-rural and base metals sub-indices all increased in the month. In Australian dollar terms, the index increased by 2.5 per cent in October. Over the past year, the index has increased by 40.7 per cent in SDR terms, led by higher LNG, coking coal and thermal coal prices. The index has increased by 35.5 per cent in Australian dollar terms.
