In April 2021, the index of producer prices for industrial products increased by 5.2% compared with April 2020. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office this was the highest increase compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year since August 2011 (+5.2%), when prices rose strongly after the end of the finance crisis. Compared with the preceding month March 2021 the overall index increased by 0.8% in April 2021.Mainly responsible for the increase of producer prices compared to April 2020 were the prices of intermediate products and of energy.
