EIA reports a weekly U.S. natural-gas supply climb in line with market expectations

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday that domestic supplies of natural gas rose by 56 billion cubic feet for the week ended July 3. That was generally in line the average increase of 55 billion forecast by analysts polled by S&P Global Platts. Total stocks now stand at 3.133 trillion cubic feet, up 685 billion cubic feet from a year ago, and 454 billion cubic feet above the five-year average, the government said. August natural gas NGQ20, +2.52% was up 4.3 cents, or 2.4%, at $1.867 per million British thermal units. It was trading at $1.874 before the data. (full story)
