European Car Sales Show First Signs of Recovery

European car sales showed first signs of a tepid recovery in May as showrooms reopened after a two-month shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic. Passenger vehicle registrations in the European Union, the European Free Trade Association and the U.K. fell 57% year-over-year. While that’s the worst May since the European Automobile Manufacturers Association started tracking the data in 1990, it was an improvement over the 78% plunge in April.
