Disliked{quote} It's never happened to me, as least not that I've been aware, in such a way that the evidence is obvious. Perhaps I'm too small to be a worthwhile target! Nonetheless, whether rightly or wrongly, there are plenty of complaints in the Broker Discussion forum. I'm also aware that software like virtual dealer plug-ins for MT4 does exist.Ignored
As to the OP's original premise that success in retail forex wasn't possible, I don't know. Several people have linked to this article which suggests a good portion of accounts are in profit over the period in question - of course you could look at multiple periods and see if it was the same accounts that were profitable and if you lengthen the time scale sufficiently maybe most accounts suffer - people talking about leverage as a means to make money - imagine having a leveraged position on the wrong side when the CHF removed its peg - ouch. There's lots that can go wrong and most people give it too little thought.
That said I also know a couple of people who make plenty of money betting on horse and dog racing - something else that most people would say can't be done. Thinking about those two the things that stand out are - they don't do it for the money but for the enjoyment/challenge and they're not upset by their losses. Maybe there are other things, knowledge, length of time they've been involved in racing etc etc but its the other two that stand out - and those two are connected.
