Disliked{quote} Hi there, Just looking at your scalp trades. They appear to be more gambles to be honest with your rules.I have backtested your results and it would be more profitable for you to trade longer term ( ie DAX +200 and just do the " event breakout " trades"). As the saying goes,"Less is more"Ignored
Trading is all about what suits the individual trader and most of the time I limit myself to ~2 hours in the morning and another ~2 hours in the afternoon.
During the last 4 weeks, the average maximum swings available during these periods were 80.4 points in 14.5 x 5m bars in the morning and 84.1 pts in 15.2 x 5m bars in the afternoon. A total available of 164.5 pts / day. The average from close to close for the period was 65 pts / day.
Thus IMO, the more appealing strategy is to spend a limited time trying extract the maximum points from the morning and then the afternoon swings.
However, my research is ongoing into different strategies

PS As per my post # 3325 a couple of days ago, I do not consider myself a scalper. Been there, done that in forex with several hundred trades / day and ~400% weekly return using 100% leverage......bloody hard work!!
PSS An excellent thread for ideas on the use of Moving Averages to generate Intra Day signals is Phillip Nell's 2007 thread on 5m trading - that's what started me on the use of MAs more than seven years ago!
