Disliked{quote} First off what moves the market? Simple enough right? It's supply (sellers) and demand (buyers). That said we also hear these sayings; For every buyer there is a seller. For every winner there is a loser. The market is normally in a state of balance. The biggest and most powerful looking moves occur when the market finds a state of imbalance which is usually a very temporary condition. So if there is a buy order for every sell order and a sell order for every buy order how does the market move. Honestly the simple answer is they who have...Ignored

Disliked{quote} Nothing wrong with that. As traders that is supposed to be one of our luxuries, pick and choose our hours and our days that we trade. A few weeks off over Christmas and the New Year is a well needed break after a year of grinding in the charts. Plus this is a great time to do your year look back and tweak your plan as needed. All businesses have a year end when they have to check their numbers and hold themselves accountable for the past years gains and loses. We as a business need the same closing out period to finalize the past years numbers...Ignored

Disliked{quote} I think you may be right Aldo. I got this medal in the mail for most longwinded trader for the year 2013 {image}Ignored
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through my house,
My computer was sleeping, not even touching my mouse.
My take profits were set by my me with care,
In hopes that some profits soon would be there.
I was sleepy and nestled all snug in my bed,
While visions of Ferraris danced in my head.
My wife in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.
From the alarms on my charts there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to my computer I flew like a flash,
Tore open the charts and said goodbye to my cash.
The EURO just dropped over 150 ticks,
Almost a margin call, I yelled out “you prick!”
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a Bernanke speech so wonderfully clear.
The US is saved and the EURO is trash,
Could this be my savior, could it bring back my cash?
More hawkish than dovish with a gleam in his eye,
There’d be no more tapering (we knew twas a lie).
"Now Draghi! now, Poloz! now, Kuroda and Carney!
Start contemplating how to weaken their currencies.
How they could beat the US at their tricks,
Was on all on their minds, that Bernanke was slick.
The EURO she paused and then started to fly,
Up from this drop heading straight for the sky.
So all along the SM were just up to their tricks,
Twas but a shake out, those sneaky old dicks.
And then, in a twinkling, my money was back,
I started to dancing as my trades were on track.
Then I turned around and looked back at my charts,
The EURO stopped climbing, I grabbed at my heart.
38 hundred was where the climb stopped,
Now 3750 my jaw starts to drop.
This is just crazy I started to shout,
Those stupid old bastards just did a double shake out.
My eyes just glazed over and I started to faint!
My wife started yelling her usual complaint!
“I told you no way could you make money trading”,
“Your charts are so messy and Indi’s are lagging”.
“You’ve lost our kids money for their education”,
“Each time you win once you want a celebration”.
“Like that pip you just scored makes up for the 10 that you lost”,
“You want to succeed but at what cost”!
She was cranky and tired and returned to our room,
I sat there and stared at my charts full of gloom!
Then to my surprise a ghost did appear,
He said “my dear friend there’s nothing to fear”.
“I am here to teach you to trade, you have my word”,
“I’ll show you the secret to get out of the herd”.
“Take those lagging Indi’s, get them off of your chart”,
“Just add some volume and your off to a start!”
“The SM may be tricky, but they do leave some trace”,
“Just know where to look, it’s right in front of your face” .
“Now that you know the secret to trading success”,
“VSA is all you need, best be forgetting the rest”.
“You don’t need no software to tell you to trade”,
“A little hard work, is where true successes are made”.
As quick as he came he disappeared out of sight,
"Happy Trading to all, and to all a good-night!"
Disliked{quote} Once you have determined who is in control of a pair it can make life easier when trying to spot trades and also when trying to determine possible risk versus reward for entries you are watching. When I started out with VSA I did NOT understand this very well and as I was learning I traded mainly one type of set-up; Climax bar Confirmation bar ND or NS or test for entry I never paid much attention to where the entry occurred on the chart or even where the most likely targets were and as such took some bad tradesIgnored
Disliked{quote} Then along came some conversation about trigger numbers and how it could be the H or L or C of a UHV bar. This intriegued me greatly as now it gave more purpose to my entries. I then started to take the position which I have stated on this thread many time before; For me a test bar has to be testing something. If it's testing nothing of value in my eyes then it's just any other bar.The whole triggers number conversation lead to months of testing and discovery which ultimately lead to the creation of VZA. VZA is volume zone...Ignored
Disliked{quote}Basically what I learned was that the SM tended to be active in the same area's over and over again which added weight to the entries I was now watching for. Volume at volume... Over and over again. I am sure some of you here and over at the now dead VSA forum are quite sick of that saying but it was true then and is true now. Why is that? At the time I knew it worked but I didn't know why it worked. That question lead me down the path of learning supply and demand zone trading. I related to it as it felt similar to my...Ignored
Disliked{quote} Once you determine which side the SM are most in then you can use VZA and S/D zones to see where they most likely want to take price to fill more of their waiting orders. It is at these locations where we see the low volume ND or NS or test type bars which we can use for confirmation that the SM are in fact doing what we think. Demand tends to remain at demand zones until either all orders are filled or until all orders are absorbed so we are safer playing with the odds until the odds have shifted.Ignored
Disliked{quote} My biggest suggestion to anyone that wants to truly learn VSA and be successful with it short of forking out money to TG to buy software that basically tells you when to trade even though you haven't got a clue why you just went long is to spend some time learning to understand market dynamics, price structure, supply and demand patterns and how the market really moves. Then you can take the VSA bars and know whether what you are seeing truly makes sense and when an entry is truly safe and a nice high R:R. I had a point when I started....Ignored
