DislikedCubbybgood http://www.forexfactory.com/images/buttons/viewpost.gif Did not specify as entry condition that MACD be aligned too which leads to lots of orders being opened and closed immediately by the MACD exit condition.
Update attached that ensured MACD points up for a buy and down for a sell.
EDIT: So far the backtest looks much better. Before it kept going below and above breakeven without making any progress.Ignored

DislikedI can't get the EA to backtest on any of my brokers after Jan 2012. Always says "no data"
I downloaded the data from the history center. Still not working. Am I missing somthing here?
By the way thanks for your EA work.Ignored
Dislikedwhy EA has Buy stop and Sell stop orders? It is not part of the systemIgnored
DislikedWhy do you think this system will work long time ? you only used it a mounth ?
And also is not 3 percent risk per trade quit risky 10 bad trades and 1/3 of the account is gone.
Also it might be in a trendy good market you have tryed it so it not works so well in sideways market. I dont try to be critic just try to be safe.
Best regardsIgnored
DislikedI'm no critic either, but I do know that 1/3 of $10,000 = $3,333.33, agree?
Therefore, after 10 losing trades, by your math, the account balance would be $6,666.67, agree?
Now, this was not clear in post #1, but when people say risk 3% they generally mean 3% of the current account balance, not what the account used to be.
So, the difference between using FIXED amount or VARIABLE ?
Let's see if math can be done in our head, 3% of $10,000 = $300, agree?
10 trades as suggested by you = loss of $3,000 at fixed risk amount.
Therefore...Ignored
DislikedYou welcome. I had the same problem with backtesting. No clue why. I ended up backtesting on a platform on which I saved the tick data fromthe begining of the year until now.
Btw are you sure 20 pip SL is that appropriate ? In february theres a big string of SL hits that wipes out almost all profit in 9 days and then recovers it in a week, but whats the point in getting profit only to give it all back again and again ?
I'll see how the BT ends and post it here. But I think the backtest uses the current spread and I'm using oanda and their...Ignored
DislikedHmm. I was wondering about theose small losses in back test. No the stop loss rules are on the first page. There is no hard SL. I base SL off of the macd indicator. I'll give you an example...
example picture...
Red vertical line is our entry. Black vertical is our exit for profit. Exit trade for proift or for loss when macd crosses 0 like it did in this picture.Ignored
DislikedOk with your calculation it is then down more then 25 percent and also more then 1/ 4 of the account.
Best regardsIgnored
DislikedI explained that already. The rules say to only take the first trade after xpma changes color. As soon as xpma changes color it opens a buystop or sellstop order. Then once HA changes color it checks for the stop order and if it exists opens a market order and deletes the stop order so that any future HA signal is not taken.
The stop orders are 2000 pips away to make sure they dont get executed and as I said as soon as an order is opened theyre immediately deleted.Ignored
DislikedClose enough but isn't 25% same as 1/4?
Is the glass half full or half empty?

DislikedI just explained the need. The EA needs it to make sure a second HA signal is not taken. If I remove the pending orders the EA will no longer work according to the rules. It'd take trades on all HA changes of color.Ignored

DislikedLets go ahead and give that a shot so the EA can stick to the rules. That's most important.
Taking every HA signal in the direction of the xpma could give ok results but the the last few HA signals of the trend could give us major losses. The point of the system was to try to get the trend early. It's probably difficult to make this happen in an EA I understand.Ignored
DislikedThanks. Got it.
Can you post your source code so that we can examine the logic as well?Ignored
