the russian embassy is not too far from it......also a really nice aston martin dealer close by too.
incredibly wealthy country and i was also struck by the 'homeless' as compared to what i saw in boston NY and other US cities.
progressive taxation so the wealth was widely distributed.......a gf got me a smoking jacket from the arch bishop of osaka. i know you won't believe this and i will probably end up in hell forever for telling it but she was a former nunn......i swear though she was the only one
catholicism had an enclave in japan but was incredibly rich......
i had been living in downtown boston and working a lot in new york before japan so thought it would be simple as an adjustment. it took me all of about 1 day to realize what it felt like to be illiterate
it was a great experience and i was very lucky to have had the opportunity

Indeed, was offered a position in Japan a few years back, and could choose anywhere I wanted. Had I not been otherwise engaged with concerns of a personal nature in France - you know, allowing a certain lady to whisper sweet nothings into my ear in French, and thus rendering this Englishman utterly defeated - I would be there.
However, given the reports from friends out there regarding the nuclear meltdown, I'm rather happy to be elsewhere.

DislikedRemember waking up on a Sunday mid-morning - after leaving the hotel with several colleagues on a Friday evening - under a pool table somewhere in Roppongi, after the cleaning lady of the establishment prodded me with a broom. I assume in order to determine if I was dead.
Two of my colleagues were wrapped up on a sofa somewhere behind the bar.
