Disliked...if we flatline - within a range of insignificance - for the rest of the week, it will be Monday when the market shows its hand. I know I keep referring to the elections in France and Greece this weekend, but if Hollande gains France, this will upset the apple cart that Merkel et al have been pushing around, and I think many a money manger will be heading for the Dollar. The US is rolling out better numbers the past week or so, and nobody with any major fiscal capacity will want to ride the wave of uncertainty that is undoubtedly coming for Europe....Ignored
DislikedThanks for the post, cleared a lot of things up for me on inflation, and also the upcoming elections. So I am assuming that if Hollande wins the election, There will be a Germany France standoff. Since Germany holds the bigger stick, I wonder how it will play out.Ignored
DislikedStandoff of sorts, as Hollande wants to renegotiate the fiscal pact, but without yet being specific – which much surely perturb the markets. And of course, we had Spain tell Merkel where to go two weeks ago, but they are, whilst being a large economy, not as important as the Franco-Germanic pact. If these two don't agree, nobody agrees, and the doors fling open for fist-fight in all corners of the bar.
Stagflation - the official unemployment and inflation figures are shocking enough, but speak to anyone on the street, and they can tell you that...Ignored
