DislikedSteve,
1. The system works fine for forex pairs, but when I try and place an order on instruments like ES (S&P500) which only moves in 0.25 blocks it rejects the order, because the software is trying to enter a trade at 1247.73 (for example) instead of 1247.75. Same for SL and TP.
Who is your MT4 br0ker? I'll download their platform, and give this a try. VO works with the br0ker's settings for minimum lot size, minimum step size and tick value (number of dollars P/L per tick, per full lot traded). If the br0ker hasn't...Ignored
Quoting hanoverDisliked2. When I place an order, I love the way I can set the R:R to 1:1 and move my SL accordingly, which adjusts my TP. However once the order has been placed, if I try and modify it using the VO Modify orders script, I lose this functionality - if I move my entry my SL and TP don't move, and if I move my SL closer to the entry it keeps the same lot size and doesn't adjust to reflect the (in my case) 2% risk.
The Create and Modify scripts work differently, due to their being constrained by the available functions in their MT4 counterparts. For example, MT4's modify instruction does not allow changing the trade volume (lot size), hence VO is similarly restricted. Consequently, this makes it impossible to re-calc the trade volume based on SL and TP pips.Ignored
I think that as long as its optional, it would be very popular - I've already recommended this program to 3 friends who would also use this. We often enter a short on the low of a bar, but price may keep moving up first so we keep moving the order up to the low of the next bar just finished - but the key is we need to move the SL to the high of that new bar, which means the lot size may need to change to keep the same % risk. Hope that makes sense
Quoting hanoverDisliked3. When I have more than one order on the screen, and I try and modify it, is there a way to move more than one order at once? I open 2 trades each time, the first TP is 1:1, the 2nd trade has no TP, I will trail the stop - otherwise the 2 trades are identical. I'd love to be able to move both of them at once, otherwise I need to move 5 lines (2 entries, 2 stop losses and 1 TP) every time.
Not explicitly. However, there's a little known facility in MT4 that allows you to 'dock' trendlines, which might possibly be helpful here. It takes some practise. Supposing you want to make two SLs move as one. Then select both lines and move them so that they're located exactly over each other, i.e. all three handles (the little squares used to move them) are aligned in exactly the same place. Then release the mouse and re-select the middle handle. If you've done it correctly, the two lines should move as one.
This isn't a perfect solution, as the RR text above one line will obscure the RR text of the other. But it's the best one that I know of.
