Euro lifted by talk Berlusconi weighs resignation
Unconfirmed speculation that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi may resign saw the euro trim losses on Monday. Reuters reported that two journalists close to Berlusconi separately said they expected the prime minister to step down. "That Silvio Berlusconi is about to step down is now clear to everybody, it's a matter of hours, some say minutes," Giuliano Ferrara, the editor of the Il Foglio daily newspaper, said in a video posted on the paper's web site, the report said.
