.. the NLMBB and how well it seems to follow the basket. I wondered what would happen if one simply traded on the color changes, Red/green = short/long. Exit on color change.

DislikedHi Shake,
Great to see that NLmBB has resulted in profitable manual trades for you.
For a while it did look like the colour change on the NLMBB would be ideal to trade the basket.
However, the fact that it is lagging and whipsaws occasionally is a problem.
To me it appears that the TMA would be a better alternative as price does seem to bounce off the bands. It does not have the Bollinger Band drawback where price tends to hug the band for extended periods.
Maybe a reversal zone could be applied using 3.0 and 2.5 ATr lines.
My preference would...Ignored
DislikedThanks for the info, EP. I am by no means done experimenting and agree whole heartedly with you about the NLBB. Same hazards as any MA type system. I like the TMA, and will keep experimenting.
I like the Synergy bars, since they eliminate a lot of noise. Their short coming is that they also mask a lot of price action. However, I think with the basket, they may be well suited. I don't think the traditional candle patterns, such as pin bars, IBs, etc carry as much importance.
I have never been much of an indicator trader. However, it seems that...Ignored

I agree, the basket of 8 work the best. I've been testing all the time frames and the 5min seems to be the best sooo far. My HAMA EA has been running all day and I'm up 845 pips, check the chart you can see a lot of pips left on the table. I need a better Trailing stop. I'll keep it running tonight and see how we do.
John,
any luck with that !TLE HAMA?? I have 2 other indicators that I think might be better then the HAMA but for now I'll let the HAMA run.Ignored
DislikedHi there
please a request for jmw1970
I don't know if this can be implemented, btw=
it would be good if we could have on the screen an update of what the EA is doing during the trade
i.e. right now I'm trading a Basket Long with your EA,I put Set to BreakEven+Lock at 200 USD level and trade went up to 227 USd before retracing
it would have been good to see printed on the screen that the preset Lock Amount was banked and StopLoss level was moved to BreakEven during the active trade
I hope it can be done
many thx for this excellent piece...Ignored
DislikedDear All
just a quick note to let people know that I am still around and haven't forgotten about this project.
If you have read the thread you will be aware that I have just moved to the UK.
Unfortunately the town I am in, only has one place with WIFI, so it is very difficult to get online.
I have ordered broadband internet, which should be set up next wednesday (5th October), at which point I will be more active on the forum again.
Best Regards,

DislikedHi Shake,
Here is a way to avoid those pesky whipsaws!
Only need 2 indicators:
1. 13 period TMA with 1.0 ATR100 bands.
2. NLMBB (5,13,0.0)
Entry: Colour change on NLMBB, ONLY when it is OUTSIDE the TMA bands.
Exit: Colour change on NLMBB ONLY when outside OPPOSITE band.
OR at Max TP, when there is no NLMBb/TMA Cross exit (See Attach 2)
(TP set at Amt that would exceed average Color change exits)
A bit radical as HaS, mTF etc are not needed.
Will be putting to test.
Lets see how it goes!Ignored
