Whilst out today I saw a person who reminded me of a friend of mine who lost her vision some years ago. She became a user of a white cane and a guide dog to navigate her way forward through life. As you can imagine, you don't just wake up one day being able to do this, it took hours upon hours of assisted education for her to be able to do operate moving about with a cane and guide dog comfortably (let alone caring for the dog when you can't see).
It made me think of this thread. This thread was asking me, if I wanted to participate, to learn how to navigate my way around my charts without what I'd previously believed was my trading "sight"................my indicators. Wow, I've never done that before, I'll be in that, I told myself. and then thought, it may not be for me as I may not be psychologically suited to being a naked trader.
What a dreadful way to start a new way of trading......with my parachute already packed in case I wanted to bail out!!
I read the few pages of the thread and didn't do what the teacher (forexhard) asked. That's so easy I don't need to do THAT, after all I have all this prior experience. What would pushing a small box around a chart teach ME?
Then along came a nice friendly soul who shared his automatic gizmo which was good as my trading friends always want on those on their charts. These small boxes just appear. "We're cooking with gas now, straight into top gear" I told myself.
Out of habit, I've always opened the Stairstep Breakouts thread on the first page where these words jumped out at me time after time..............
"This method is so simple it's hard."
Why would forexhard say that? Maybe I'd better read the thread again, so I did. I decided to take my automatic gizmo off the chart and do as instructed by the teacher. I even went overboard and took off the candle wicks by making them the same color as the background of the chart and moved my small rectangle around the charts. I used the metatrader Step by Step to help me see if I learnt anything. I wanted to atone for my sins of not doing what was originally asked in the very first post.
What an enlightening experience that was. I formed my own viewpoint and started feeling more comfortable without my indicators. I confess though, I did put my indicator on after I'd taken a short on the GBP to see if "the other me" would have taken the trade........................so you can see, I still having my security blanket nearby.
It's Non Farm Payroll news day today, so the market may well stay in limbo until after that release at 8.30 EDT.
Maybe you have time to take some of my steps and see if anything changes for you.
I'm off to push my little box around my AUD currency.
Catch you later.
